Icy roads mean that the salt trucks will be out to help drivers get more traction. While this is beneficial in many ways, it can also cause significant harm to your vehicle. At Schimmer Chevrolet Buick Inc, we recommend being proactive and taking steps to prevent corrosion.

Do not let road salt sit on your car any longer than necessary. While washing your car in freezing temperatures is obviously not a great idea, do try to get it in at least once every two weeks. Scan the forecast for days that it will be at least 40 degrees and be sure to leave enough time for your car to thoroughly dry before nightfall.

Be aware of things that can increase the amount of salt hitting your vehicle while driving around in Mendota. Large puddles accumulate road salt and should be avoided whenever you can. Also, try to avoid driving near big trucks, which have a tendency to kick up salty water onto other vehicles.
