You’re driving down the road and your car suddenly loses power, and you can’t start it again. Or, your vehicle won’t start in the morning. Your first assumption is going to be that your battery is bad. While this may be the case, it may also be your alternator. Unfortunately, many drivers rush out and buy a new battery only to have the car have the same problem.

Although your car’s battery is what initially gets the car running, it doesn’t do it alone. The battery gets its electricity from the alternator. If the alternator starts to fail, it will appear that you have a bad battery. The alternator is a very important part of the vehicle because it’s one of three important parts required to provide your vehicle with the power and electricity it needs. One sign of a faulty alternator is fading lights inside the vehicle. If you experience these problems, have your alternator tested and/or replaced.
